The same thing happened to me today!
I was testing Neo, and I had grabbed the amulet. Then, I saw some new characters needed to be tested, so I created a new game, and all I could do was Ascend!
Dunno how I fixed it though...
Bug Reports
Crash while decending levels
Hi CD!
I've been playing v1.2 for a little while. Twice, Rogue Touch has crashed while descending to the next level. "I" seem to have gone down the steps and the screen seems to fade out to go to the next level. But then, wham, I fall totally out of the program back to the iPhone home screens. When I restart Rogue Touch and restore the game, I have to repeat the level that I just did. Experience and everything is back to the way it was when I descended to the level I was just playing.
Also, I on occasion seen the messages on the get behind. So, when I pick up gold, I get a message like "The bat was defeated." Exiting the game and restarting/restoring it fixed the issue. I know this happened with v1.1. I think I seen it happen with v1.2 as well.
I'm still enjoying playing the game and look forward to the upcoming enhancements.
Edit: iPhone specs: 16GB iPhone 3G with v2.21 s/w
Thanks,
Steven

BUG
I have a +3 +3 mace that can Zap. When I press the character for inventory, I get the ZAP and INVENTORY option. If I choose inventory, the program crashes. Consistently.
Iphone 3G 2.2.1, Jailbroken.
UPDATE: If I ZAP it, that seems to fix it. However, if I try to apply another enchant weapon spell, and then inventory, it crashes.

That won't be a problem in 1.3 this weekend (or whenever they approve it!

Yes, that shutdown when descending a level is a tough one. I thought we had it beaten and fixed once... It definitely appears to involve the destruction of the old level and monsters while the screen is still being updated. Multi-threaded programming isn't easy...

We'll look into the out-of-order messaging too. That sounds like it could be an easy problem

Can you tell me what the mace was vorpalized for (the monster type?) was this your own character or a secret one? Were you playing on version 1.2 or 1.1? Version 1.1 definitely had some problems with vorpalized weapons, but those were fixed in 1.2. Let me know!
Re: Bug Reports
I'm curious about some things that have to do with teleportation or decending stairs.
What happens if you end up on the following:
Another trap
An enemy
A doorway
An item
You might have considered this, but I thought I'd bring it up.

There's nothing in the world as ruthless or impartial as death. All living matter ages over time and eventually dies... No matter how mighty or tiny its life force... So being alive means you're creeping closer to death with every second...

No....not sure what is was vorpalized for. My character that started with the +2 Mace, and I'm running 1.2

Another thought- were you able to get directly to inventory without a crash by double-tapping directly on your character? That is a shortcut that bypasses the "Zap/Inventory" context menu popup. If you run into a similar situation, try that and let me know what that does

Re: Bug Reports
I was playing around trying to max a guy out, if a nymph takes the amulet from your inventory you can still only ascend, which is a problem if you want to go down. Lol
I'd really like to go back down....if you have any suggestions, my guys pretty decked out and starting again would be unfortuneate.
It is absolutely maddening to have a teleport trap in a doorway of a small room with the stairs on the other side.....either a disarm option or a wall-to-mud staff/scroll
Even if it's just a work in progress please put up a basic item/damage faq
I was a long time moria/angband fan back in the day and am pleased with the game and how it's moving, I'm aware it's a good work in progress and can't wait for the next update.
Thanks

We'll post an item FAQ tomorrow with damage ratings on weapons, and a list of all of the major magic items you can find in the game... The next update will probably include some sort of trap manipulation magic item, as well as a fun new trap (well, fun for us to design and program, maybe not so much to step on)!
