Found this bug today. See this screen shot:
I was fighting the slime, and it divided, but when it divided it went off to another corridor that is not connected to the current corridor! You can see it diagonal to the upper right on the screen shot (the slime is not visible in the other corridor).

Re: Bug Reports
Weapons and staffs need some sort of cancel button on their screens. For example, I accidently hit throw with my bow (see screen shot) when I meant to hit wield. There is no way to cancel it, all you get is the direction choosing screen. Same thing with wands. I accidentally hit zap with wand, but did not want to zap. All I can do is choose a direction, there is no way to cancel out of it.
Re: Bug Reports
Actually, just click on your avatar, and it will cancel your throw/zap action.
Peace and love,

Was not aware of that, will have to try it. But if I wasn't aware of it, and I've played *a lot* I imagine a lot of users have missed it also. Would be good to make it more explicit.Zyxt wrote:Actually, just click on your avatar, and it will cancel your throw/zap action.

Yeah, that is not immediately obvious but has been there since 1.0, and needs to be part of our control section here and in the FAQ. It's tough to see how I could label that. I mean, do I write Cancel over the area where the Avatar is? Would new people understand that they should tap there? Or would it confuse things more because I remove the direction select text to fit that? Maybe a little circle with an "X" in it centered over the avatar, so it looks like other buttons?
Interesting catch on the slimes- it should not be able to divide across two hallways... little stinkers have been trouble lately

Re: Bug Reports
I think the circle idea with the X is a good one.CommanderData wrote: Yeah, that is not immediately obvious but has been there since 1.0, and needs to be part of our control section here and in the FAQ. One other issue. Not sure if this is a bug, a game balance issue, or just me whining! I just got done playing a game where I made it to level 18. During that time I defeated around 15 snakes or so. Was bitten a bunch of times and yet not once do I find a potion of restore strength. It seems like to me if there are going to be that many snakes that there should at least be 1 or 2 potions of restore strength. I dunno, maybe thats just tough luck in the Dungeon of Doom.

Good, I think that's probably the best representation too. Anyone else have a thought?

Yep, that's just bad luck in the dungeon. Lord Gek and I were talking about the recent review at SlideToPlay where a similar point was brought up... the game of rogue was never designed to give you what you need when you need it (unlike so many modern games), but to be be brutally indifferent to your needs and just supply whatever the next random roll tells it to. I too have starved a few times, walked around with a strength of 8 for half a game, or had a cursed ring that I just couldn't locate a remove curse scroll for! But I keep coming back for more

Part of the longevity of Rogue comes from the fact that "maybe you'll do a little better next time"

Re: Bug Reports
Here's an interesting bug I encountered:
I started a character using "Drizzt" just for fun and I managed to reach level 33. I picked up the amulet there and decided that I didn't want to ascend using the special char as i wanted to only use vanilla chars for my hall of fame. I quitted the game and restart it so that I can start a new game with my default char. After I started the game, I arrived at the first staircase and tapped on it. Instead of "Descend stairs", I was given the "ascend stairs" option. I clicked the option and I ascended at Level 1. LOL.

Already located and fixed that glitch, took about 1 minute! Finding the amulet and making it out alive would not allow you to perform this trick... we never tested what happened if you found the amulet and just said "nah, I don't want to win"
