Just did a quick search through the thread and couldn't find anything on this one...

I had a +4/+5 shocking two-handed sword of .......... slaying...

I don't know what the sword was vorpalized for, because the name went off the screen in every instance that I tried to view it: inventory, drop/throw/pick-up, etc.

I know I shouldn't whine about a weapon that good (actually, it was a +2/+2 shocking two-handed sword when I picked it up........ on level 1), but it would have been nice to know what it was +7/+8 against.

I have the impression, from an earlier post, that items are "cashed out" upon death and the value added to the character's gold total. If this is true, can some items be worth a negative value? I ask because my most recent character's gold total pre-Urvile and post-Urvile differed by about 400 gold.

A solution for the text chopping is in the works I believe, I suggested substituting element names for symbols () to help

As jhawk mentioned after your post- we are working on that,I brought the font size down just a bit in version 1.5 to see if that helps enough on its own. Sometimes 1 or two points is all you need to make the entire description "re-flow" in that area of the screen. Beyond that we'll probably show what it's vorpal against with icons as he suggests- maybe even all enchantments- elements could be shown with a little lightnight bolt, flame, or snow flake for example. Cut little touches :D

Items are supposed to be cashed out at your Victory retrieving the Amulet, but not at your Death. Unfortunately I did not have enough time before submitting last night to do a whole dungeon run with a secret character to be sure the cash-out is occuring properly at victory now. At your death you even lose 10% off the top of your purse, per original rogue game rules :lol:

Wow. I never realized how brutal Rogue was. I have been spoiled by later Roguelikes I think. I thought Dungeon Crawl was hardcore!

Yeah, its relentless. I have played over 100 games and never won.

Is that 100 games of Rogue Touch, or of Rogue in general?

[/me ages himself...] I'm guessing that I've played over 3K games of Rogue (v3/v4/v5) and never won. In fact, I'd never gotten to the amulet until I started playing Rogue Touch!

Rogue Touch. I think any game that you play 3000 times and can't win needs to be rebalanced by the developers. It should be pretty damn hard, but not so hard that you would need to dedicate a lifetime to playing it!

I never claimed to be a great player (and I certainly wasn't for most of those), although I've improved dramatically over the years.

Not sure if this is a feature request or a bug. When you get a staff of light and you select it, I don't think it should then ask you which direction to zap. It should just zap whatever room you are in and save you a step.

Also, (and this is really a feature request), I was thinking you could add a "repeat last action" icon on the bottom of the screen along with the find and sleep icons. This would be really handy for when you are throwing shurikens or darts or daggers or shooting arrows, etc... currently you have to tap to bring up inventory. Then tap again to select the shuriken, then tap again to select the direction. Repeat like 5 times until monster is dead.
