A "Rogue 3D" would be fun!

Post by swhatley »

Hi all,

i don't like the full action games like Doom and Quake. I do like Rohue-like games. A thought ocurred to me. I should seems like a "Rogue 3D" would be fun. It would be first person like Doom but turn based like Rogue. I think this would be Cool. I know about Dragon Bane I & II but the graphics are on the rough side. Any suggestions? Thoughts?

Thanks,
Steven

I think you could try Wolfenstein RPG or Doom II RPG in the app store, those are turn based, grid based, not quite roguelikes but close! There's an overhead/isometric 3D one coming out in the next 2 or 3 months as well that I am following from Dicework games (Rimelands: Hammer of Thor)... that has been classified as a roguelike by people, but honestly I think it will end up grid based pseudo-realtime when they are done.

I'm a bit old-school, preferring top-down view. But not so old-school that I demand ASCII.

Which reminds me, it may be time to do some updates in the other forum too! ;)

I'd have to agree with CD... I don't mind isometric (2.5D), but 3D just doesn't feel right to me for a Rogue-like.
