Rogue Touch Version 1.7

Post by CommanderData »

Just a brief heads up that Rogue Touch 1.7 has been submitted to Apple today (Sept 11, 2013)!

This will bring much needed changes to fully support iOS 7 UI/Controls when it arrives next week, and gives the long time faithful rogues here something special- iPhone 5/5c/5s and 5th Gen iPod Touch "tall screen" support!

Wasn't sure if my creaky old code would be capable of this, but managed to pull it together

In this version, no new items unfortunately... To ensure I'd get approved in time for the new OS release this week I concentrated on fixing minor bugs, providing iOS 7 compatibility, and finally giving 4" tall screen support. That's been the most requested feature for a long while, and now that I have done it I wish I did sooner! Much nicer to play on my iPhone 5 now.

The next generation Rogue Touch has gotten lots of new ideas and items though, you'll be reading more about that here and on my blog page throughout the fall ;)

Speaking of updates, Apple has approved this one! I'll be releasing it into the wild later today

Hey Commander Data,

I know this probably isn't the place to post this, but I just wanted to tell you thank you for all of the hard work you've done to give us Rogue Touch. I play it almost daily and have done so pretty much since it came out.

And now of course I'm looking forward to the new update - can you tell us ANYTHING at all about it? Will there be one large release or will there be several small updates over the fall? I assume there will be new items but any chance there will be new creatures? Can you be more specific than just the fall for the release? Can you give us anything to chew on? Help a brother out here! :)

Again, many thanks to you man. Take it easy,

Jread

Hello Jread,

Thanks for the kind words, it's great to know that people care after all this time! If you haven't already, an iTunes review or rating is a nice gift for me too :D

A teaser for you- the next-gen Rogue Touch gains quite a few things outside of the traditional Rogue you are familiar with... And yes that includes new creatures and some "boss" type monsters

Hoping to share tidbits and screenshots more regularly this fall. 90% of the all-new art is done... Core mechanic changes are figured out- new stats, equipment choices, etc... Coding is slack right now due to my consulting business, but that's changing in a big way this fall. News on that change is coming soon!

Can't wait. I've been playing Rogue since it came out on the Tandy 1000, so variants are always fun :)
