What do you consider to be the worst item in the game?

My pick is the studded leather armor, which combines the disadvantage of metal armor (vulnerable to aquators and water traps) with the disadvantage of leather armor (low AC).

Heh, you picked a good one, studded leather is in my top list as well. Right alongside finding ammo for a ranged weapon you don't have, or maybe darts. Nobody likes darts :P

I am sure others have their own opinions, but overall that it shows how tight the original Rogue design was. Nearly anything can be useful in certain situations. I did my best to integrate a bit of new equipment without destroying that balance. Rogue Touch may be slightly easier than vanilla Rogue with the changes, but still fun and challenging enough for most people!

I'd have to vote for darts and crossbow / crossbow bolts. You can still make studded leather armor useful (with Protect Armor) in a pinch. Darts are too weak (although I will use them instead of bow/arrow to free up the bow slot for other loot when necessary), and yeah, there's never a crossbow when you find the darts and vice versa. Sometimes you get lucky and happen to hit your bones file from the previous game that had the needed half of the pair, but.... yeah.

I am new to this forum but it rocks. I have played alot of Rogue and although I dont disagree with the items listed so far I might add this one to the list.

scroll of create monster- havent figured out why someone would want this.

I know there is a trick with the scare monster scroll and standing on it when it is dropped. CD do you know of any reason the create monster scroll might be useful?

Great sight please keep it going.

The scroll of Create Monster isn't (generally) useful, which is the whole point. It exists as a cautionary tale against reading scrolls willy-nilly without being prepared for the consequences. Many of the game's items exist for the same reason (Potions of blindness, confusion, amnesia; Scrolls of blank paper and sleep; etc.).

Possible uses? Create it at the end of a long room, put it to sleep, polymorph it into something vicious, then kill it from range. Lots of XP.

Can also be used as a rear guard (if it's a weak enough monster) to prevent you from being attacked on two sides by powerful monsters. Aquators are quite useful in this regard, as they don't cause any physical damage.
