monument on floor 1

Hi

Does anybody know the story behind the monument on floor 1 (donated by guild 342)? Is this a relic from the original rogue source code and is there any significance (does it do anything in the game ?)

Not from the original Rogue, but it does have plans. That monument will be the first sort of "in-game" leaderboard... I plan to have it list the names of the top 1,2, or 3 players for a given day. Just for fun of course! It got left on the back burner due to my "day job" commitments and the Spirit Hunter Mineko project, but it will be added as I manage to find the time

I'd been wondering if walking over the monument had any effect on your game. For a while, I'd developed a theory (superstition?) that treading over it cursed you in some way. I think I just had a few unlucky games where I happened to walk over it...
