I made my first ascent tonight, but eventually starved to death on level 15. Was I unlucky, or is there no food oto be had on the ascent?

My heart was pumping, and it was still fun even though I didn't make it.

You'll see almost nothing on the way back up stairs with the amulet, but very occasionally there will be food (and monsters can drop it when killed too). Best bet is to save 2 or 3 food for your mad dash to the surface
