Ha! LazySumo that was absolutely great too! I loved the little highlighted bit here about being infested with adventurers... I almost spit my coffee out while reading that!

Guess I should share mine.

Alas the poor fate of Arkenett! Dreamer, swordsman, and not that bright. So it was only natural that he headed into the Dungeon of Doom, thinking it an easy get-away! Armed with his mace, he smashed Hobs left and right, was quizzed multiplications by slimes, and given the cold shoulder by ice monsters, but he persevered! Arkenett gave a cry of joy as he found a wand, wondering what it did. He tried playing wack a monster with it, but he felt that he wasn't using it right... He tried throwing it like a spear at creatures, but still didn't felt like he was doing it right.

After two levels down, and feeling confident after bashing the monsters left and right, and also chipping off the bits of burned skin and singed hair after quaffing a potion that he thought would help... (Hint hint, it BLEW UP!) Anyway, back to the story. He wondered through an almost dizzying amount of hallways he found a Hob, and fought with a battle cry! Unfortunately in a mistake, you would think he's colorblind, he chugged down a sleeping potion, he blacked out. Waking up later, Arkenett found his body battered and horribly hurt! In a panic, he dug through his pack and was chucking anything he could find his hands on at the Hob! Spears, swords, armor, even an annoying high-pitched singing ring, until the beast fell. After trying to pick up his stuff again, and stroking his ego a bit, he ventured onwards with a smile on his face, and his pack once again heavy with the stuff that is now aerodynamically tested to be monster repellent.

With a groan Arkenett rubbed his head, looking around wondering what the hell just happened. He smashed into the ground when his pack hit him on the way down. "Oh yea... Stupid faulty floor..." Arkenett cried out in dismay as he got up with great effort looking at his giant pack. He sighed as he looked at the book that he has been carrying for Compulsive hoarding disorder, and piled it away with the other four copies of the book that he has found. (Erherm! Going away from the story for a while... OHD is a horrible disorder that has been effecting many an adventurer! With their constant look for... 'Rares' and 'Uber' stuff, when they don't notice how horribly they are effected by this disorder! Please, if you see an adventurer, take his stuff... And... Err... Give it to me to add to my stuff! Err, I mean burn it...)

Back to the story, after a short meal of a mushroom, hoping that he wouldn't start seeing 'Rainbows' after eating it, our star-crossed hero moved onward! Arkenett came upon a slime, strangely, and was soon backed into a corner by it's skills in division, or... Multiplication? I don't do math, so anyway! Arkenett was low and health, and looked through his pack for anything that will help, finding that old wand. "Huh... Worth a shot!" He cried in a heroic manner as he was looked at it, pointing it at the slime, trying to find instructions... A ball of energy shot out and struck the slime! Arkenett gave a heroic arm pump, thinking that the fight was over, but finding that it instead turned into a giant Venus flytrap! "Crap!" Arkenett yell cursing the wand as he was trapped in the crushing vines of the plant and it's mouth open ready to chomp on him! Our unlucky hero let out a string of rather, unheroic words and tried to think up of a plan, but was constantly squeezed. Sighing, finding no other help, he pointed the wand at the plant again, hoping it would work. The vines vanished and Arkenett gave a deep breath of joy, and tried wiped his head to get rid of the sweat on his face. Finding it strange, that his hand should of reached his head by now, looked at his arm, to find a stump. Arkenett, looking back at the monster to find it a griffin, sighed and lowered his head as the last thing he saw was the beak clamping down on him. And so, with great woe, out... Hero? Failed. Well, at least he was of some use now... What will his friend Xanmyral do, when he treks into the dungeon? We shall find out...

Sorry, got kinda into it. :?

I ran into a nymph last night, standing right inside the door to the stair room. Already being heavily wounded and not wanting to lose any of my 5 staves I bonked her with a Polymorph hoping she'd turn into something I could easily kill. No such luck...troll!
He bopped me over the head but good with a mighty swing of his club. Everything started getting fuzzy and with my last ouce of consciousness, I managed to say the command word for the Polymorph staff again.
It crackled and fizzled shooting out tiny sparks, mocking me as the troll wound up his club again...

Xanmyral, there's definitely no need for apologies like that! I wish I could write such great tales from the dungeon... maybe someday I will give it a shot. And then everyone can tell me to get back to coding instead ;)

A lot of you have real talent out there, keep up the good work!

From the short haikus to the huge multi-paragraph tales, I enjoy reading them all

See, and I think that is the power of having such a cool replayable game with almost no story of it's own...it's up to the player to make up their own rationale for being in the dungeon and explaining what's actually happening.
