I finally found an easy way to save/backup my game. Well, that is if you have a jailbroken iPhone. Install the Cydia app called AppBackup. When ran, it shows the list of apps installed. Scroll down until you find RogueToych and tap on it. Initially, only options to Backup or Cancel appears. Tap backup. After the backup, a Restore option will be shown. So now if your character gets killed, just run AppBackup to restore from your last backup.

Ahh yes, good old fashioned "save-scumming"... even that little cheat does not guarantee victory but it can help you out if you make a really foolish mistake at times
