Re: Does "Powerful Magic" mean a guaranteed pit trap?

To my knowledge there's nothing linking the appearance of pit traps (or any other traps) to the "You sense powerful magic on this floor!" level hint message. Also, "powerful magic" can refer to any weapon, armor, staff, wand, or ring. In the case of weapons, armor, and rings it m...

Re: Scroll of Whirlwind?

It's not listed because the magic and equipment page hasn't been updated in a looooooooooooong time. :-)

Here's a hint for the next one you get -- use it in a large room when you're surrounded.

Re: Skeleton dealing 76 dmg with 1 hit?

...he drops the same loot: +3/+1 Katana of Troll Slaying, ~250 +0/+0 Arrows, -5 Banded Mail, +1/+1 Mace, and a +0/+0 Two Handed Sword. The mace is the starter item, and the katana was one a previous character had, but the -5 Banded Mail and 200+ arrows are weird. So if I read this right, none of yo...

Re: Skeleton dealing 76 dmg with 1 hit?

Good point Nighthawk. I think a good question would be, what secret character were you playing for the last few games prior to that? What rank were you at death? Good point... I almost never play with secret characters or muck about with skeletons (due to the possible corruption), so this thought n...

Re: Skeleton dealing 76 dmg with 1 hit?

The Skele might have rolled out of his mind, and your AC4 isn't exactly strong, especially for Floor 16. Not unheard of, just unlikely.

Re: Cursed Ring Bug?

Not a bug, this is normal behavior. Wait, are you saying you have a Ring of Protection (+0) in your second post? Edit: Oh, I know what happened. When you identify one type of ring, all of the rings that are of the same type reveal themselves (as they should), but do not reveal their power (+/- value...

Re: Rogue Touch Strategies

Horde all potions and scrolls till level 8 or 9. If possible, don't drink or read any till then. If you run out of pack space, drink a few potions but don't read scrolls yet. But make sure you drink and read before you hit levels in the teens, as that's when things get really serious. I'll give you...

Re: Screwed

Next trick will be to ensure the stairs or amulet never appear in a place like that, because if it happened to you, it's likely to happen to one of those items someday... which would also be a game-ender  They're both bugs, but only the stairs being so placed would be a game-ender - the other...

Re: iOS 4.2 performance problem

Sorry for being pedantic, but when you say "the game gets faster as I progress," can you be more specific? For example, describe the speed and smoothness of the animation (both exploring AND combat) at the following points: *During your first few steps after starting a game *After you've e...

Re: iOS 4.2 performance problem

Interesting.... what iDevice do you have? I'm on a 3GS and (subjectively) I'm not seeing any improvement. Question: In general, when you start a level (or are in an area where not much needs to be rendered on-screen) is the animation relatively fast, and then gets progressively worse as you explore?
